Claiming that Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak has
been stonewalling on their query over open tenders, Gerakan has decided
to bring the matter straight to the top.
Weeks after raising the issue of the sale of Kedah government land
purportedly without open tender, state Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng
Liang has submitted a memorandum of protest to Opposition Leader Datuk
Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“The Kedah MB already said he was not
interested in entertaining me. So this memorandum is for Anwar, and I
hope he will advise the Kedah Government if he has any authority at
all,” said Tan.
After handing the memorandum at the PKR
headquarters here yesterday, he said he wanted to involve Anwar in the
matter because of Pakatan Rakyat’s Buku Jingga contained a pledge on
open tenders.
Tan had previously alleged that the Kedah
Government, through its subsidiary, had gone into a joint venture with a
Penang-based developer Belleview Group Company to develop two plots of
land worth a total of RM600mil.
Tan said that if Anwar fails to deal with the matter, he will be exposing more claims of irregularities in the Kedah Government.
The memorandum was received by Anwar’s aide Najwan Halimi.
