Kuin Should Provide Free Education
The Kedah-owned Insaniah University College (Kuin) should provide free education as propagated by the opposition, instead of raising its tuition fees, said state opposition leader Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.
He said as the opposition had called for the abolition of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation, the state government should provide scholarships to Kuin students through the Kedah Scholarship Board.
Mahdzir, who is also former Kedah menteri besar, in an email to Bernama, said it was unwise for Kuin to raise its tuition fees as it had yet to move to a new campus in Kuala Ketil.
He was commenting on Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak's admission that the new intake of Kuin students would have to pay higher tuition fees beginning July to tide over rising administrative cost, including the move to a new campus at the end of the year.
